Faculty Day Marked: Awards, Scholarships and a Robot That Stole the Show

The Faculty of Engineering of the Catholic University of Croatia celebrated its second Faculty Day on 12 October. It was a festive and moving occasion, and the final word went to our humanoid robot.

MASS AND THE RECTOR'S ADDRESS

The celebration began with Holy Mass led by Prof. Odilon-Gbènoukpo Singbo. In his homily, he connected knowledge, faith and responsibility, drawing on the example of our faculty's patron, St. Carlo Acutis. Rector Prof. Željko Tanjić then spoke about the future of higher education in the age of artificial intelligence.

THE YEAR WE WELCOMED VIVALDI

Dean Prof. Zlatan Car presented the results of the past year: the Vivaldi supercomputer, acquired with European Union support, and new robotics equipment, including a humanoid robot and robotic dogs.

SIX AWARDS

- Jakov Šafran, for the best academic achievement in the first year of study.

- Maroje Goga, for his active contribution to faculty life and promotion.

- Assoc. Prof. Ivica Martinjak, for excellence in teaching in the technical and natural sciences.

- Prof. Odilon-Gbènoukpo Singbo, for excellence in teaching in the social sciences and humanities.

- Asst. Prof. Jelena Štifanić and Asst. Prof. Daniel Štifanić, for their contribution to the promotion and visibility of the faculty.

Warm congratulations to all the award winners!

FOUR COMPANIES, FOUR SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarship agreements were signed with NetCom, Silicon Master, Satom Delta and Adricom, and NetCom and Satom Delta also received certificates of appreciation. For our students, this means fewer worries about study costs and a shorter path to their first job in the field.

MUSIC, A ROBOT AND THE ANTHEM

Soprano Patricija Žudetić and pianist Lovro Knežević performed in the musical part of the programme. Our humanoid also had its moment, delighting the guests with a few dance moves. The programme closed with the academic anthem "Gaudeamus igitur", after which guests toured the renovated campus and laboratories.
